Hola! I am Rosalba Zuniga and my passion is my God, my family, and my desserts!
I was born in Monterrey, Mexico where my love of baking began. I come from a big family of 10 kids including myself. Every morning, I woke up to the smell of something baking. I was the youngest daughter and always by my mom’s side in the kitchen.
I baked my first cake at 10 years old. My mom was sick and I tried to cheer her up with a surprise cake, but I forgot the baking powder so the cake didn’t rise properly. My mom gave me the advice to lay out all of the ingredients before I start baking, so that’s what I’ve done since. Because of my mom’s instruction and encouragement, I found my love of baking.
I had a restaurant in Mexico for 10 years with very successful desserts. When 9/11 happened, it also had an impact in Mexico and we lost the restaurant. My husband suggested we move to Texas where we visited family every year. I was hesitant to leave the only home I ever knew, but my husband said we should try it for 2 months, then we would leave if I didn’t like it. Well, we have lived here in Bryan ever since!
After we moved, I had many odd jobs around town and made cakes on the side until I decided to bake full time. I am always busy thanks to the people in my wonderful community and so grateful to everyone. I hope to make a cake for YOU next! 🙂
